YB5 connection in From Russia With Love?

As a young man, Ian Fleming studied French and German in Kitzbuhel, Austria, a medieval resort town situated in The Alps. It was in Kitzbuhel that Fleming learned to ski, and was first encouraged to become a writer.

In Hurricane Gold, Charlie Higson reveals that Kitzbuhel will be a location in Young Bond 5. Strictly a nod to Fleming? Or is this region a part of the larger James Bond legacy?

Check out this intriguing sentence found in Charlie Higson’s favorite Fleming Bond novel, From Russia With Love:

"The plane skirted the great eye-tooth of Mont Blanc, a few hundred yards to port, and Bond looked down at the dirty grey elephant's skin of the glaciers and saw himself again, a young man in his teens, with the leading end of the rope round his waist, bracing himself against the top of a rock-chimney on the Aiguilles Rouges and his two companions from the University of Geneva inched up the smooth rock towards him."

Is this a description of a scene we might see in Young Bond 5? Charlie has said the final Young Bond novel will feature skiing and rock climbing.

Young Bond 5 will be released in hardcover on September 4, 2008. Charlie Higson’s working title is The Shadow War.
